During our evening in Varanasi, we made a decision that would forever enrich our souls – witnessing the revered Ganga Aarti.
As we approached the ghats, we encountered a scene of preparation, with six stands meticulously arranged for the priests to perform the pooja, illuminated and adorned with care
The atmosphere was vibrant, with buildings illuminated in a kaleidoscope of colors.
Behind the stands, arrangements were made for spectators to witness the pooja, offering a front-row seat to the captivating spectacle.
As for those seeking a unique perspective, viewing the Aarti from a boat was also an option, at a nominal fee of 50 per person.
The Magical Ceremony Unfolds: Rituals and Reverence
Ganga Aarti in Varanasi commences at sunset and unfolds over a serene 15 to 20 minutes.
Then Six priests, clad in maroon sweaters and cream-colored attire, lead the ceremony with grace and devotion.
In each ritualistic gesture, the priests light lamps in all four directions, symbolizing reverence to the Holy River Ganga.
This experience is nothing short of enchanting, as the synchronization of the priests and the melodious bhajans sung in the background transport you to a realm of magic and mystique

After the Ganga Aarti, we discover another spiritual gem – a Devi temple where Khichdi distributed as Prasad.
This coincides with the Evening Aarti at the temple, creating a seamless flow of divine offerings and blessings.
Exploring Different Perspectives: Dashashwamedh Ghat and Shitala Ghat
On the second day, we ventured to Dashashwamedh Ghat for another glimpse of the Ganga Aarti, this time from behind.
Despite the change in perspective, the magic remained palpable, as the pandit conducted the pooja from all four sides, ensuring a grand spectacle for all.
Our journey culminated with a visit to Shitala Ghat on the third day, where we observed a more subdued Ganga Aarti compared to Dashashwamedh Ghat.
Besides,The difference in ambiance and rituals, dedicated to different deities, offered unique insights into the spiritual tapestry of Varanasi.
Embracing the Dawn: Morning Pooja at Dashashwamedh Ghat
On the fourth day, we rose early to witness the morning Pooja Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat,
where a solitary priest ; unlike 6 priests in the evening, ushered in the dawn with reverence and devotion.
It was a serene and introspective experience, contrasting with the grandeur of the evening ceremony.
In conclusion, our exploration of Ganga Aarti in Varanasi was a transformative journey of spirituality and discovery.
